Why choose me?
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Coaching and Mentoring. I also have a degree in Social Sciences and Economics and a Master’s degree in Community Education. I am a professionally qualified youth worker. All of this is only of real value when combined with my lifetime’s experience of working with individuals and organisations. My specialist areas are outlined below.
YOUNG PEOPLE
I am a qualified youth worker. I still work with young people and children on a regular basis – as a volunteer! SMALL BUSINESS Entrepreneurs need mentoring. Business start-ups are a unique context where the owner (usually) needs to be and do everything. It can be hard to keep track of things and not just ‘play to your strengths’ but also handle your weaknesses and identify blind spots. CHRISTIAN MINISTRY Church leadership can be one of the toughest and loneliest places to be. I specialise in getting alongside Christian leaders in a supportive and non-judgemental way. Many church leaders simply don’t know who can help, who to confide in and who can be trusted. I understand this world and can help you. I have worked in, with and for the Church of England and the Free Methodist Church in Cornwall. |
EDUCATION
My wife is a teacher, teacher trainer and educational specialist. Two of my (grown up) children are teachers. I have spent many decades going into both primary and secondary schools under a variety of guises including four years spent running a school support charity. I have also led HE courses and taught and supervised at Masters level. I have an MA in education. I live in a world of education and hold the capacity of education to change lives as a high value. I am also aware of the personal cost to teachers and school leaders of the pressures in the educational system. I ‘get’ teachers and want to see them do well. I now work in association with Penwith College and train Specialist Leaders in education. If you are looking to develop your career, handle pressures around teaching or just get a better ‘work life balance’ I can help. CHARITY/THIRD SECTOR Too much coaching and mentoring is focussed on the corporate world with a lack of understanding of the charity sector. Charities, their employees and volunteers are driven by ideology not profit and it takes a different insight to live, work and thrive in this area. I have run charities and know how hard it can be to get staff, motivate change and keep volunteers happy. |
